Are you interested in primary care research? Would you like to co-design projects, contribute to meaningful studies, and strengthen your research skills as part of a dynamic team?
GoldNet members receive updates about opportunities to collaborate on practice-based research with a network of researchers, GPs, registrars, practice managers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Together, we support research that is relevant to real-world primary care and helps improve outcomes for patients and communities.
Participation may also contribute to QI PIP activities and count towards CPD requirements under the RACGP CPD Triennium. If you haven’t already signed up to the GoldNet membership list, click here to join.

Frailty Primary Care: An automatic electronic frailty index in Australian primary care and a toolkit for action
The Frailty Primary Care study, which aims to integrate frailty measurement into primary care systems in Australia and deliver novel decision-support tools to enable comprehensive frailty management. This study is funded through a grant from the federal government (2023 Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) Multidisciplinary Models of Primary Care) and is led by myself, Professor Mark Morgan, General Practitioner (Bond University), and Professor Ruth Hubbard, Geriatrician (The University of Queensland).

Occasions of Care Explained and ANalysed (OCEAN)
The OCEAN (Occasions of Care Explained and Analysed) study is a national research program providing unique insights into care provided by multidisciplinary health professionals in Australian general practice. OCEAN is building a national evidence base on how general practices, Aboriginal Medical Services and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services deliver team-based care. Study data will inform the case for better support and resourcing at the national level and ensure that future policy is informed by real-world practice.

Optimal Implementation of Antimicrobial Stewardship in General Practice (OPTIMAS-GP) Study
OPTIMAS-GP invites you to participate in an implementation trial to improve the quality of antibiotic prescribing for acute respiratory infections in Australian general practice. The research is supported by a grant from the Australian Government Medical Research Futures Fund (ID: MRF2029531).
EYE-GEN: Enhancing Access for Youth with Eye Disease to GENomic Services
Researchers at Flinders University are investigating the barriers primary care providers face in accessing and delivering genomic services for individuals and families affected by childhood glaucoma, congenital cataracts, or retinoblastoma, to inform the co-design of primary care–level healthcare solutions.
General Practitioner Concussion Knowledge and Practise in Australia
This study is exploring experiences of providing concussion care to both adult and paediatric patients in general practice, aiming to better understand current management practices, challenges faced, and areas where additional support or resources may be needed.
How do General Practitioners address long term effects of breast cancer diagnosis and treatment in their everyday practice with breast cancer survivors?
Data collected from this survey may help identify issues and barriers to the provision of evidence-based interventions to assist breast cancer survivors manage any long-term effects diagnosis and treatment and help inform viable services to meet any patient needs.
